Start the New Year with a plan not a resolution

One of the most powerful health choices you can make is to eat the recommended servings of fruit and vegetables. Fruit and vegetables help with weight loss, blood pressure control, and heart health. Eating more produce and less beef is even good for the environment. Plan to eat a serving of fruit or vegetable at every meal (and snacks) and you will get what you need. Here is what a sample day can look like:

Breakfast: Cereal or toast with 1/2 cup berries or  a half of grapefruit ( 1 fruit)

Lunch: Sandwich; green salad( 1 cup) and tomatoes ( 1/2 cup)( 2 vegetables)

Snack: 1 apple ( 1 fruit)

Dinner: chicken with green beans ( 1 cup); carrots (1/2 cup) ( 3 vegetables)

Dessert: Mixed fruit salad 1 cup ( 2 fruit)

At your very next meal plan to include a generous portion of fruit or vegetable or both. Continue this all year and you will improve your health.
